Parliament adjourned on March 8, but will resume a debate on legislation covering a proposed cabinet reshuffle, which envisions 17 ministries and 21 members instead of 24 ministries and 27 members, on March 9.

The opposition has said that it will not endorse the reshuffle because they feel that it will not improve the efficiency of the government, while the ruling coalition claims that the changes will help it fulfill its electoral promises and provide the requisites for a better life for the people.

Delegates from the Serbian People's Party, Serbian Radical Party, Liberal Democratic Party, New Serbia and Democratic Party of Serbia attacked the reshuffle claiming that the changes were insufficient and would not yield results.

The opposition also said that an early legislative election was the only way to solve Serbia's economic and political woes.

Nenad Canak's League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina and minority whip Balint Pastor announced their support for the new cabinet. They said that the reshuffle would enable the cabinet to meet it goals and preserve political stability.
