Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Thursday that 24 people, including 16 police officers, have been arrested for issuing fake documents.

Dacic specified that the arrested include the head of the Pristina police administration in Nis and the head of the Belgrade police administration in charge of travel documents.

"They were issuing fake documents - birth certificates, citizenship certificates, place of residence," he said.

Dacic said that they were arrested on the suspicion of abuse of office.

The Serbian interior minister announced the results of the police operation at a joint news conference with Luxembourg's Minister of Labor, Employment and Immigration Nicolas Schmit.
