Dulic presents in New York policy of development of “green economy” in Serbia

Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic said today that participants in the 19th session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 19) exchanged experiences regarding the progress made in the field of ecology and looked at decisions that should improve environment in the future.
Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic said today that participants in the 19th session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 19) exchanged experiences regarding the progress made in the field of ecology and looked at decisions that should improve environment in the future.
Dulic told the Tanjug news agency that all participants agree that the solution is in the "green economy'” that has room for employing millions of people on the one hand, and on the other hand for improving the environment and raising awareness of issues of environmental protection and sustainable development.
The Minister presented at the event the policy of development of "green economy" in Serbia and added that the Serbian government's plan is to employ 10,000 people by the end of its mandate in jobs related to "green economy" and these are the management of waste, chemicals and renewable energy sources.
Dulic presented the way in which this is done in Serbia as well as project carried out in this field.
This year's session deals with issues that need to be implemented in the period 2010-2011 and these are transportation, waste and chemicals management, mining and ten-year framework of sustainable production and consumption.
The results of the negotiations and decisions that will be made at the session will be considered in the context of preparations for the upcoming world summit on sustainable development that will be held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012.
