Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Director Resat Malici ruled out the possibility that police commanders in northern Kosovo will be replaced by ethnic-Albanians.

Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Director Resat Malici ruled out the possibility that police commanders in northern Kosovo will be replaced by ethnic-Albanians.

Malici told Tanjug that, in case they refused to comply with the KPS rotation plan, police commanders in northern Kosovo and at the Brnjak administrative crossing will be replaced by Serbs, rather than ethnic-Albanians.

We will find a solution. We are trying to find people from the Serb community. We will not appoint commanders from the Albanian community, but rather those from the Serb one, Malici stressed.

The police commanders in northern Kosovo were imposed a 48-hour suspension, which will be extended unless they accept the transfer to the new posts they have been assigned in the rotation, and there is also a possibility that they will lose their jobs, Malici pointed out.

Malici reiterated that the deadline for the transfer of police commanders in Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecane, Zubin Potok, Leposavic and Brnjak administrative crossing expires on Friday.
