Three people convicted in drugs trafficking and organised crime case

A mixed panel of two Kosovo judges and a EULEX judge of the District Court in Pristina has issued a verdict against three defendants in a case related to drugs trafficking and organised crime .

A mixed panel of two Kosovo judges and a EULEX judge of the District Court in Pristina has issued a verdict against three defendants in a case related to drugs trafficking and organised crime .

The court found that: as member of a criminal group, Ilaz Kurtaliqi purchased 7,5 kg of heroin from Faik Mazreku and attempted to transport it to Switzerland for drug dealing purposes. Shyhrete Hasani participated in the commission of the crime. Two other people involved remain at large.

Ilaz Kurtaliqi pleaded guilty of drugs trafficking and organised crime and received a sentence of six years and nine months of imprisonment and fined 25.000 euros.

  • Faik Mazreku pleaded guilty of drugs trafficking and received a sentence of four and a half years of imprisonment and fined 10.000 euros.
  • Shyhrete Hasani was found guilty of drug trafficking and was sentenced to one and a half year of imprisonment and a fine of 800 euros.
  • Fatmir Neziri was acquitted of all the charges.

The prosecution was represented by a SPRK Kosovo Prosecutor. The verdicts were given on 27 May.
