Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic expressed gratitude yesterday to Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Trinidad Jimenez Garcia-Herrera on her country’s support to Serbia in its European integration process and principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

Cvetkovic noted that Serbia has made great progress on its European path and that for our country the most important thing is to obtain the EU candidate status by the end of the year and the date of beginning of accession negotiations.

Garcia-Herrera affirmed that Spain will continue supporting Serbia on its path to the EU, stressing that Serbia has implemented a series of successful reforms over the last several years.

The meeting announced that over the period ahead, economic cooperation will also be stepped up, both in terms of increasing the volume of trade exchange, and in the sense of the participation of Spanish companies in investment activities in Serbia.
