Director General of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) Dragomir Markovic presented on Tuesday the EPS White Book to representatives of the European Commission (EC) which contains projects in the area of energy efficiency and fight against climate change.

We presented tangible projects, the existing legislations in this domain and plans for its enhancement, with two aims, that is, to find potential investors and investment funds and to provide support to EU accession processes, Markovic told reporters following the Tuesday meetings.

Markovic specified that the principles comprised in the White Book are based on the standards set by the EU. The EPS delegation, comprised of Markovic, EPS Executive Director Bratislav Ceperkovic, Director of the EPS Directorate for Electricity Trade Dragan Vlaisavljevic and System Development Manager Aleksandar Vlajcic, conferred with Director for Security of Supply and Energy Markets in the EC Directorate General for Energy Heinz Hilbrecht and Head of the unit for Serbia in the EC Directorate-General for Enlargement Myriam Verger.

After the talks, Hilbrecht said that it is crucial for Serbia to adapt to EU development trends in the domain of energy on time. The Serbian EPS is on a good way and can play a key role as one of the most important companies in the region, he said and welcomed the plans for development of renewable energy sources presented on Tuesday.

Development of renewable energy sources is very important for Serbia, Hilbrecht said. The EPS White Book contains projects related to modernisation of thermal power plants and large hydropower plants, as well as plans for electricity production by means of wind energy.
