Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said Tuesday that the future regional center for emergencies in Nis is a long-term project which will be compatible with and a part of the European search and rescue system in emergency situations.

When Serbian President Boris Tadic next visits Russia, with which this project was initiated, the commitments of both states will be defined, Dacic said. He added that he discussed the project and its compatibility with the European search and rescue system with Russian Minister for Emergency Situations Sergei Shoigu and with EU officials.

Some firefighting aircraft from Russia will be stationed in Nis this year too, he said.
