Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic opened today a construction site for the new Natural History Centre in Svilajnac as part of the Belgrade Centre for Science Promotion.

Djelic pointed out that the completion of the project is expected next year, adding that 70,000 primary school students will have the opportunity to visit the place.

Students will be able to learn about evolution, climate change, the emergence of life on planet and the like, he said.

The construction of the centre was planned within a financial agreement worth €200 million that the Serbian government signed with the European Investment Bank (EIB) in March last year.

Project value in Svilajnac is €5.5 million, explained Djelic and added that the construction of the centre is very important for the popularisation of science, but also a great economic opportunity for the city.

Djelic today the ceremonial session attended marking the Day of Svilajnac and was awarded the plaque for city this year.

The formal gathering marking the Day of Svilajnac was also attended by Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Toshio Tsunozaki.
