Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic and Israel's Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich on Monday talked about the good cooperation between the two countries and Israel's support to Serbia's efforts to preserve its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
After a meeting with his Israeli counterpart, Dacic told reporters he thanked Aharonovich for Israel's support on the Kosovo issue, adding Serbia also supported Israel in solving similar problems.
Dacic stressed the good police cooperation, adding he hoped it would continue in the future, especially in combating terrorism, crime and drug trafficking.
Reminding that the two ministries hava a cooperation agreement in these areas, Dacic said there was a whole series of joint operations and projects, including sharing experiences in anti-terrorist unit training, IT, the implementation of the Tetra system, witness protection and emergency situations.
He added that Serbia paid a lot of attention to relations and communication with the Jewish community in Serbia, noting it was a shared duty to nurture co-existence and prevent any possible incidents between different nationalities or religions.
Aharonovich said this was a return visit, adding Israel would continue to support the friendship and ties between the two countries.
He said Israel supported Serbia's efforts to preserve Kosovo, and also expected Serbia's support in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian self-government.
The Palestinians want to declare independence in the UN Security Council, but we believe conflicts should be solved by agreement and we condemn unilateral moves, Aharonovich said.
Aharonovich will go on to visit the Interior Ministry's communication center in Belgrade and meet with representatives of the Justice Ministry on Monday, followed by meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic on Tuesday.
