Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac stated on Aug. 25 that there is no possibility for the Libyan leader, Moammar Qaddafi, to seek asylum in Serbia and that there are no members of the Serbian military and police in Libya.
"What I said earlier I am saying now members of the Army of Serbia and of the Interior Ministry are not in Libya, and we are expecting information about the citizens who are said to have been captured," Sutanovac said at the Ladjevci airfield near Kraljevo.
He estimated that a great deal of false information is arriving from Libya.
Commenting on the speculation about the countries which could grant Qaddafi asylum, the minister said that there is no possibility for the Libyan leader to seek asylum in Serbia.
The Zagreb daily Vecernji List reported that a member of the Transitional National Council of Libya, Fatima Mahmoud, had stated that it is rumored that Qaddafi could seek asylum in Serbia, Croatia, Chad, Algeria or Venezuela.
