The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Director General, Irina Bokova pays on Saturday and Sunday an official visit to Macedonia on the occasion of the 50th jubilee edition of country's most renowned poetry manifestation, Struga Poetry Evenings.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Director General, Irina Bokova pays on Saturday and Sunday an official visit to Macedonia on the occasion of the 50th jubilee edition of country's most renowned poetry manifestation, Struga Poetry Evenings.

On Saturday, Bokova accompanied by Culture Minister and chairwoman of the UNESCO National Commission, Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska, will visit the Water Museum in Ohrid and attend a presentation of Mateja Matevski's body of work, who is this year's recipient of the Golden Wreath award, Culture Ministry says in a press release.

On Sunday, the UNESCO Director-General is expected to address the Struga Poetry Evenings and to present the UNESCO accolade to the best young poet.

UNESCO's Bokova during her visit to Macedonia will also visit St. Jovan Bigorski monastery, which has been gravely damaged by a fire. Several organisations have raised money for its reconstruction, including UNESCO.
