American Chamber of Commerce has marked its 10th anniversary in Serbia.

A celebration ceremony has been attended by President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Boris Tadić, US Ambassador to Serbia, HE Mary Warlick, Ministers and high officials of the Serbian Government, President of the Serbian Parliament, Slavica Đukić – Dejanović, and more than 300 representatives of the business sector and AmCham member companies.

In his welcome speech, President of AmCham Serbia, Mr Miloš Đurković, has said that American Chamber of Commerce has been successfully promoting economic partnership between the United States of America and the Republic of Serbia in the last ten years, as well as supporting attracting foreign investments and exchange of modern business practices and methods of operations.

- After ten years, we can be proud of the road we have passed together, in the economically and politically turbulent times for Serbia. A good business environment is possible only if there is a clear political will to identify a need for economic reforms, as well as willingness and persistence on that road, said Mr Đurković.

In the last decade, a key focus of the Chamber has been on the improvement of the regulatory framework for better business operations.

Since its establishment, the main objective of AmCham has been the institutionalisation of a constructive and constant dialogue between the private and public sector in order to improve the business climate in Serbia, with an ultimate objective of accelerating economic reforms, supporting the economic growth of Serbia and its positioning as an attractive investment destination.

In its work, AmCham strives to be a constructive partner of the authorities in the aim of establishing conditions for making business operations of the existing investors easier and creating a more favourable climate for future investments. In addition, AmCham is positioned as a hub of business expertise for the member companies, international community and business community as a whole.

American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia was established on October 03, 2001, when it gathered 11 member companies. Today, AmCham represents 160 US, international and local companies, which have invested more than EUR9 billion in Serbia.

The mission of American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia is to promote the best American business practice, values and responsible partnership between the United States of America and Serbia leading to economic development through trade and investments.
