China's businessmen willing to invest in Serbia

Chinese expert teams will be in Belgrade next week to meet with Serbian representatives to agree on the terms and prepare agreements of understanding, which could be signed by the end of October, when the governor of the province Guangdong is expected to visit Belgrade.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic met yesterday in Hong Kong, with businessmen from the People's Republic of China, who expressed willingness to invest $2 billion in projects in Serbia.
At the start of his official visit to China, Jeremic presented the managements of large companies the possibilities for investing in our country.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with today's meeting, adding that the projects that were discussed during the meeting could be ready for implementation soon, later this month.
He said that Chinese entrepreneurs have shown particular interest for direct investments in the energy sector and the textile industry.
One of the companies expressed willingness to transfer a significant part of its production for the European market to Serbia, while other projects are greenfield investments in high-energy technologies, said Jeremic.
He pointed out that China is now one of the few countries that has the capacity for direct investment abroad.
Serbia has significant comparative advantages, including very good political relations we have patiently built in the past, said the Minister.

Jeremic will be in Beijing today to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.
On 9-10 October, Jereic will chair the session of the Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Cooperation of the two countries.
