The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) believes that, by calling on Serbs to remove the barricades, Serbian President Boris Tadic accepted the deployment of Albanian customs officers at Jarinje and Brnjak and thus enabled Pristina's authorities to round up the recognition of Kosovo's independence

SNS MP Borislav Pelevic told press at the parliament's building that Tadic by this violated the Constitution of Serbia, laws, and failed the expectations of Serbs in Kosovo.

Tadic failed the expectations of Serbs in the north of the province, because he has misled them. Both Tadic and the whole state leadership were supporting Serbs' peaceful protests at the barricades, he pointed out.

Pelevic noted that the decision on the removal of roadblocks should be made by the Serbs, and added that the SNS will support their decision.

Between Kosovo and the EU candidate status, Tadic chose the latter. This status, however, is not even a membership, since
many years will pass until Serbia becomes a EU member, he said.

Pelevic also said that the president is convinced that he will lose the next elections unless Serbia obtains a candidate status for the EU membership, and that this is his struggle for power.

He underlined that the situation in Kosovo-Metohija should be decided on by the people who live there, and not President Tadic, chief of the negotiating team in talks with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic or Minister for KiM Goran Bogdanovic, who, according to him, are only collecting political points and want to stay in power.

Serbian President Boris Tadic called on KFOR representatives earlier on Tuesday to refrain from actions aimed at removing barricades and asked political representatives of northern Kosovo Serbs to do all they can to put an end to roadblocks.
