The striking board of TV Avala, one of Serbia's national broadcasters, conferred with members of the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RRA) Council and the Republic Agency for Electronic Communications (RATEL) on Tuesday to inform them about the current situation in this TV and the reasons why they launched the strike on December 22.

As stated by the TV Avala striking board, both agencies have announced to take measures within their jurisdictions bearing in mind that broadcasting space is a limited natural resource. The agencies pledged to insist on appointment of a general manager and editor-in-chief of TV Avala as soon as possible, the statement said.

The striking board said that the RRA Council and RATEL and TV Avala owners and management will meet on Wednesday.
“We are pleased to learn that Wednesday's meeting will be attended by all owners, including a representative of Greenberg Invest Fund,” the statement said, adding that all participants of Tuesday's meeting agreed that a new meeting between the striking board and owners, i.e. members of the TV Avala managing board, has to take place in order to resolve the broadcaster's difficult situation.

At the same time, the Confederation of Free Trade Unions backed the requests by TV Avala employees, who embarked on a strike due to months of unpaid wages.
