The Sun storm that has hit our planet is the strongest one since 2005, but it will not have an effect on Serbia because of its geographical location and cloudy weather.

However, some experts believe it could affect people suffering from chronic diseases, as well as cause drowsiness.

The Sun is bombarding Earth with radiation caused by the biggest storm in the past 6 years, U.S. experts have stated.

The storm resulted from the Sun's normal activity, but it will not affect Serbia, secretary of the Astronomical Society Rudjer Boskovic Milan Jelicic told Tanjug.

According to him, the storm cannot cause power outages in the country, but it could happen in the countries close to the North Pole.

Milan Starcevic, who studies nature, meteorology and the Sun's influence on meteorological and seismological phenomena, said two explosions had occurred on the Sun, with the second one directed towards Earth and carrying a strong electrical current, protons, electrons and large electrical fields.

That energy could reach Earth after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, he noted, adding that its speed was 2,200 km/s.

The radiation from the solar explosion on Sunday reached Earth an hour later and will probably last until Wednesday.
