Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic will open the Francophone Film Festival, with which "Fontana" cinema will be opened officially at Pariske Komune 13 on 8 March at 19.30.

On this occasion, President of municipality of New Belgrade Nenad Milenkovic will address the audience as well as Second Secretary of the Swiss Embassy to Serbia Jean-Luc Oesch, on behalf of the group of ambassadors of Francophonie.

As part of the month of Francophonie, various cultural and linguistic events will be held. The Francophone Film Festival has become a regular event in March, which is traditionally supported by the Serbian Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society.

Francophonie is traditionally observed in March in the whole world. Serbia has observed Francophonie for many years as well, especially since 2006 when it joined the International Organisation of the Francophonie.

The International Organisation of the Francophonie brings together 75 countries (19 observers). Of all the countries in the region, full members are Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Greece and Macedonia, whereas Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina have the capacity of associate members or observers. The headquarters are in Paris, and the Executive Secretary of the organisation is former Senegalese President Abdou Diouf.
