The Democratic Party (DS) will launch its campaign for the forthcoming elections in Kragujevac (central Serbia) on March 15, members of the DS Kragujevac City Board said at a special meeting on Sunday evening, marking 22 years since its foundation.
Besides local members and the party faithful, the meeting was attended by DS Vice President Dragan Djilas, and seven DS mayors and heads of Serbian municipalities.
“Kragujevac is an important town, not only because it is the heart of Sumadija, but because this town will develop at the fastest pace, and because of those who are today working at Fiat, because of those who retired, those who were made redundant, and thanks to those who brought Fiat to Kragujevac,” Djilas said.
He stressed that “Fiat is not in Kragujevac thanks to (Mayor) Veroljub Stefanovic, but thanks to the fact that people have been working with and for Fiat for decades, and thanks to Serbian President Boris Tadic who has been pursuing the policy which the world recognizes and accepts.”
Voicing opinion that Kragujevac is the town that will develop at the fastest pace, and in which people will find jobs most easily, Djilas said that “Kragujevac is the town that will galvanize all into action.”
