Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland will pay a visit to Serbia on Monday and confer with Serbian officials.
Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland will pay a visit to Serbia on Monday and confer with Serbian officials.
According to the Serbian parliament, Jagland is to meet with Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, and Head of Serbia's delegation to the CoE Parliamentary Assembly Dragoljub Micunovic.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jagland will also confer with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic.
The CoE Office in Belgrade announced that during his one-day visit to Serbia, Jagland will present a report dubbed “Living together: Combining diversity and freedom in 21st-century Europe”, which identifies various threats and makes a series of proposals for living together in open European societies.
The authors of the report are nine eminent experts including Sonja Liht of Serbia.
The report is to identify the main actors able to bring about the necessary changes in public attitudes.
CoE is an international organization founded in 1949 promoting democracy, human rights, the rule of law and European cultural heritage.
CoE is seated in Strasbourg, and at the moment it comprises 47 member states, Serbia included.
