Opening new jobs, increase of the living standard and GDP in the country in the time to come will be possible only through joint efforts of individuals and the government, MP candidate Mirko Cvetkovic of the Democratic Party (DS) stated on Tuesday.

Opening new jobs, increase of the living standard and GDP in the country in the time to come will be possible only through joint efforts of individuals and the government, MP candidate Mirko Cvetkovic of the Democratic Party (DS) stated on Tuesday.

During the electoral campaign of the list 'Choice for a Better Life - Boris Tadic' in Leskovac, southern Serbia, Cvetkovic visited the private company DCP Hemigal owned by Zivorad Demic, which deals in production of cosmetics.

Cvetkovic underscored that the company has grown from a family business with several employees into a sizeable plant which operates in keeping with modern standards and employs nearly 100 people.

According to Cvetkovic, this is a good example for everyone should follow, because it demonstrates an initiative of an individual who dared to face problems, and on the other hand, the government should also show interest and provide assistance.

Cvetkovic underscored that the government would try to provide assistance through favourable loans and other sorts of incentives.

He noted that the opening of the Development Bank would make room for granting favourable investment funds for farmers.

Replying to reporters' question as to the government's responsibility toward companies which underwent unsuccessful privatisation, Cvetkovic said that the government can offer short-term assistance to a company if it has potentials for development and then transfer it to a new owner and if the company has no prospects for the future, then it has to go bankrupt and employees should receive adequate funds.
