Newly elected President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic met Thursday with the U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade Mary Warlick, it was confirmed to Tanjug at the embassy.

As a matter of policy we do not comment on the content of these meetings, the embassy said. The sooner Serbia forms a government the sooner that government can begin working on its priorities, which we hope will include progress towards EU membership as well as in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the embassy said in a written statement.

The Ambassador and other embassy staff regularly meet with political leaders, as well as representatives from government, civil society, and the business sector, to discuss matters of mutual interest, the statement says.
