We support the reopening of dialogue between the interested parties with a view to resolving the Kosovo issue

.The UN Mission in Kosovo should play an important role in facilitating the process, in line with the mandate it was granted by the UN SC, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released in a statement after the UN General Assembly passed the resolution on Kosovo

In supporting the resolution, the Russian Federation started with the assumption that the content of the document, which was jointly drafted by Serbia and EU countries, is acceptable for Belgrade, reads the statement from Moscow.

At the same time, we hold that UN SC Resol 1244 remains the legal basis for a longterm and stable solution to the Kosovo issue, stresses the statement released after the passing of the resolution related to the ICJ advisory opinion on whether Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence was in accordance with international law.
