On Sept. 12, KFOR commander Erhard Buehler and EULEX chief Yves de Kermabon condemned clashes between Serbs and Albanians in Kosovska Mitrovica which ended in a number of citizens and EULEX and Kosovo police being injured.
The incident happened late on Sept. 11 after the FIBA World Basketball Championship finals, when a group of Albanians started across the bridge that separates the divided city's northern Serb part from the southern Albanian part.
The party was met on the bridge by Serbs who had scurried there from the northern part of the city, where they had been watching the game in cafes.
The clash saw each side hurl stones at each other, and at one point the Albanians retreated to the southern part of the city. Shots were fired, and a cloud of tear gas appeared on the Serb side.
Four wounded were hospitalized, three of whom were released after receiving medical attention. One Serb with a gun shot wound to his leg remained stayed in the hospital.
