Telcom in Serbia: Serbia last year income amounted to EUR 1.51 bln

Serbia's overall income from the telecommunications services amounted to about EUR 1.51 billion last year and accounted for 4.76% of the country's gross domestic product(GDP), reports BETA news agency.

According to the Top 500 list of most important companies of Central Europe, published by major international accounting and consulting firm Deloitte, Public Enterprise of PTT Communications Srbija had an income of EUR1.30 billion and a net profit of EUR313.8 million in 2009.PTT Srbija is ranked 101st on the list.

Telekom Srbija had an income of EUR1.17 billion last year and a net profit of EUR141.7 million and was positioned 118th on the list.

The annual growth rate of the telecommunications sector was 13% in Serbia during the 2005 - 2009 period with a stagnation trend in the mobile telecommunications market and a falling demand for fixed line telephony, it was underlined by Deloitte.
