Blizzard in Moscow, 269 settlements without electricity

According to Thursday data of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations, in Ulyanovsk and Samara districts and in Tatarstan Republic, 269 settlements, that is, 28,487 houses and apartments with 87,644 people, are without electric power for the fourth day in a row, the RIA Novosti Agency reported.

The Ministry predicted that, during next 24 hours, whole Russia will have power supply problems, traffic difficulties and car accidents increase due to a strong wind and wet snow.
The Ministry Centers are recommended to increase their alertness and check the condition of their forces and means for possible action, as well as to organize a set of preventive measures for lowering the risk of emergency situations and for fixing their consequences.
The RIA Novosti also reported that wet snow paralyzed the traffic at the streets of Moscow. Many drivers cannot leave the city center, and the average driving speed does not exceed 30 kph.
