Vice President of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Slobodan Samardzic said Friday that KFOR's operation in northern Kosovo was a warning sent to the Serbian authorities, announcing the approaching end of the plans for the complete separation of Kosovo from Serbia.
The KFOR operation, as Samardzic said in a statement, is a “definite pressure on the government of Serbia to recognize Kosovo's independence.”
“In any case, this is an unprecedented action, and the Serbian government, despite the fact it is now working under a technical term, should pull stronger international moves and request an extraordinary meeting of the (UN) Security Council,” said Samardzic.
The DSS official said that the operation was one in a series of violent actions over the previous few months where live ammunition had been used, adding that KFOR was “acting as an occupying force” in Kosovo and Metohija ever so frequently.
The occupying force “is trying to crush the resistance of the Serbs against the Albanian secession and against the regime of terror carried out against Serbs,” said Samardzic.
