The Serbian government supports the candidacy of former deputy prime minister Bozidar Djelic for president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Director of the National Office of Media Relations Milivoje Mihajlovic told Tanjug Tuesday.
Djelic is one of five candidates for the office, and his four opponents come from the EU countries - Germany, France, Great Britain and Poland.
The decision on the new president will be taken in mid-May by representatives of 66 EBRD shareholders.
For the first time in 20 years, there is more than one candidate for this important function.
