Slovenia issued state bonds yesterday valued at 1 billion euros to deal with the lack of liquidity due to the economic crisis. This is the fourth time the country has resorted to this sort of action in a year.
The bonds, with a 2.75% interest rate and a maturation period of 5 years, were placed in less than an hour, a circumstance which according to the Finance Minister, "confirms Sloveniàs good position on the financial markets".
About 10% of the bonds were bought up by Slovenian investors, while the rest were purchased by creditors from various European states, mainly from Germany. Last year, Slovenia issued 4 billion euros in bonds to finance their public spending, and in January the country issued another 1.5 billion euros in bonds.
