The floods that have devastated parts of Croatia in the last few days could have cost Istria county close to 11 million Euros, the first damage estimates show.
The rains that hit Umag, Novigrad, Buje and Brtonigla flooded homes, destroyed communal infrastructure and caused damages to numerous city buildings. The biggest damages have been recorded in private households. They were around 5.5 million euros just in the town of Umag that was hardest hit.
These however, are only the first estimates since the full survey of the damages is expected to last between 60 and 90 days.
The region is not safe yet, however, as new rains have been predicted for the weekend, the daily Glas Istre writes.
