NCB Interpol Podgorica officials have extradited Serbian national Dusko Micunovic to Italian judicial authorities.

NCB Interpol Podgorica officials have extradited Serbian national Dusko Micunovic to Italian judicial authorities.

Micunovic was arrested under an international arrest warrant issued by NCB Interpol Rome on suspicion of being a mastermind of a criminal organization in Italy, which was discovered and exposed in the police operation ‘’Checkmate’’.

He is wanted in Italy to stand trial on charges of drug trafficking and criminal association.

In March 2010, Micunovic was arrested, after a search of his temporary residence in Budva found a forged passport and an illegally-owned gun. He was detained and, after serving the prison sentence for crimes committed in Montenegro, the extradition proceedings began, which has lead to his eventual extradition to Italy.
