Electricity Transmission System Operator of Macedonia (MEPSO) will calculate and determine capacities of the transmission network in 11 countries of Southeast Europe (SEE), agreed representatives of electricity transmission system operators at Thursday's meeting in Skopje.

Electricity Transmission System Operator of Macedonia (MEPSO) will calculate and determine capacities of the transmission network in 11 countries of Southeast Europe (SEE), agreed representatives of electricity transmission system operators at Thursday's meeting in Skopje.

"The calculation will include all new long-distance power lines in these 11 countries, which are to be constructed by 2020, in line with the 10-year plan for development of SEE transmission network", MEPSO said in a press release.

The meeting brought together representatives from Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Italy.

The capacity of the electricity transmission network at a regional and national level is the most important indicator for all investors in electricity output.

Meeting participants also defined a list of future investments in long-distance power lines by 2020, as well as indicators for evaluation of projects by electricity transmission system operators.

The SEE regional group is part of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), which includes more than 40 such operators throughout Europe. MEPSO is a full-fledged member of the organization.
