Conclusions on Danube strategy adopted in Luxembourg

The conclusions were adopted at the April 13 session of the General Affairs Council (GAC) of the European Union, which represents the second level in the process of adoption of the EU's macro-regional strategy for the Danube region, the statement said.

The EU ministers for foreign and European affairs adopted conclusions on the Danube Strategy in Luxembourg on April 13, the purpose of which is the development of economic potential of the Danube and environmental protection, read a statement by the office of the Serbian deputy prime minister in charge of European integration, Bozidar Djelic.

The conclusions were adopted at the April 13 session of the General Affairs Council (GAC) of the European Union, which represents the second level in the process of adoption of the EU's macro-regional strategy for the Danube region, the statement said.

The final text of the Strategy was adopted on Dec. 8, 2010 by the European Commission, and the European Parliament is expected to do the same on June 24 this year, which will officially mark the completion of the process of adopting the Danube Strategy.

"This decision by GAC also represents a clear signal to the Danube region countries and to coordinators of priority fields to start implementing the Danube Strategy," the office emphasized.
