The president of the Serbian Progressive Party, Tomislav Nikolic, stated that, in the evening on April 14, he met with the president of Serbia and of the Democratic Party, Boris Tadic, but that they reached no agreement.
"The meeting was held, but there has been no progress or any agreement," Nikolic told BETA.
Nikolic and Tadic discussed the demand of the Serbian Progressive Party for early elections in Serbia to be held immediately after Serbia's obtaining the status of EU member candidate.
The deputy president of the Progressive Party, Aleksandar Vucic, told BETA that Nikolic and Tadic had discussed the political situation in the country and early parliamentary elections, but that they had reached no agreement.
"The Democratic Party accepted none of our compromise proposals for holding early parliamentary elections," Vucic said, adding that he does not believe the two parties' leaders will meet again before the April 16 rally.
