The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has called on citizens to avoid trips to Japan. The Ministry recommends that those who are already in the country should follow strictly the instructions of the Japanese authorities and avoid staying in the region of Tohoku.

The situation in the Fukushima 1 nuclear power plant remains critical.

The decision of the Japan's Nuclear Safety Agency to raise the level of the accident in Fukushima to the highest 7th stage, reflects the full scope of the situation and not a momentary event, the ministry adds.
