Prime Minister George Papandreou held an unscheduled meeting with top ministers and associates in Parliament on Thursday evening, in light of Friday's meeting of party leaders to be convened by President Karolos Papoulias.

A ministerial meeting also took place under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Yiorgos Papakonstantinou, with the participation of Defence Minister Evangelos Venizelos, Employment Minister Louka Katseli and Education Minister Anna Diamantopoulou.
