Mostar: International summer school in organization of UWC starts

In organization of the United World College in Mostar (UWCiM) today in the city International Summer School started on Peaceful Resolution of Conflict, which will take place until June 12.

In organization of the United World College in Mostar (UWCiM) today in the city International Summer School started on Peaceful Resolution of Conflict, which will take place until June 12.

About 70 students are taking part in work of the summer school.Besides lectures, numerous workshops and fieldtrips will be organized within the school.

“The aim of the International Summer School of UWCiM is to follow our mission in which important role is played by peace building itself. As UWCiM is in a post-conflict environment, what its specificity is within the complete project, we organized summer school for the first time this year and we hope that it will become tradition “, stated coordinator for public relations at UWCiM, Meri Musa, adding that all remaining colleges have summer schools.

"We are very happy, Ms Musa added, that students who attend UWC throughout the world are with us, as well as high school students from BiH, and students from “Džemal Bijedić University” in Mostar.

“I hope that all of them will in these seven days really expand their knowledge and learn something what will help them to be promoter of peace”, Ms Musa pointed out.

The seven-day Summer School will cover the following topics: Conflict Prevention and Resolution, Peace building, Role of Youth in Peace building, Humanitarina Law, and Gender and Conflict.

The International Summer School on Peace and Conflict Resolution is organized in cooperation with the Finnish Cultural Foundation andl gathers prominent international experts from the field of conflict management.
