44th International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture opens in Ohrid

One hundred and twenty participants from 24 countries will take part at the 44th Summer School of the International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture within Skopje’s University which will be held in Ohrid from June 27 to July 12.
One hundred and twenty participants from 24 countries will take part at the 44th Summer School of the International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture within Skopje’s University which will be held in Ohrid from June 27 to July 12.
Renowned Macedonian language scholars, including academics Ala Sheshken from Russia and Ivan Dorovski from the Czech Republic, professors Macej Kavka, Irena Stavova-Kavka and Jan Sokolovski from Poland, Wolf Oschlies from Germany and Branko Tosovic from Austria, are amongst the participants.
Participants at the Summer School will attend exercises and courses on daily basis. A translation workshop will be also organized this year. After the Summer School is closed, the 38th international scientific conference on Macedonian language will be held between July 14-15. It is expected to be attended by nearly 80 scholars from the country and abroad.
Director of the International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture, Maksim Karanfilovski told a press conference that the program was conceived to include fresh developments related to the Macedonian language, history, archeology and culture.
This year's edition will focus on two important milestones - 150 years since the Miladinovci Brothers published the Collection of Folk Poems and 90th anniversary of the birth of writer and scholar Blaze Koneski.
The Summer School of the International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture is financed by the Skopje University and the ministries of culture and education.
