Fire sweeps through Dalmatia

A fire broke out Thursday in the woods on the Brac island in Croatia, its smoke spreading towards Split and the Hvar island (Dalmatia), while a little before the noon another fire started near the town of Sinj on the Kamesnica mountain, the State Administration for Protection and Rescue released.

A fire broke out Thursday in the woods on the Brac island in Croatia, its smoke spreading towards Split and the Hvar island (Dalmatia), while a little before the noon another fire started near the town of Sinj on the Kamesnica mountain, the State Administration for Protection and Rescue released.

The fire in the Blace area on Brac broke out on Thursday afternoon in the thick pine woods. Additional fire brigades from Split and Zadar with vehicles and water tanks, as well as five airplanes are engaged in containing the fire, Hina reported.

The other fire started a little before the noon on Thursday near the town of Sinj on the Kamesnica mountain. The fire damaged 2.5 hectares of the oak wood, and 10 firemen with two vehicles and one airplane are fighting it.
