Fugitive football club owner Makis Psomiadis was arrested in Skopje, in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia , it was announced here on Wednesday.

Psomiadis was wanted by Greek Police (EL.AS) since late September when he was released on bail following a disagreement between the examining magistrate and a relevant prosecutor on whether he should be taken into custody for his alleged role in a massive match-fixing scheme. The former had recommended his release.
The 55-year-old fugitive was traced to Skopje by the Greek intelligence service, which notified local authorities.
The controversial one-time owner of FC Kavala and, in the early 2000s, of top Greek club Athens Athens, was arrested upon leaving a coffee shop.
Psomiadis is currently into custody and awaiting extradition to Greece.

The investigator of a Skopje court decided on Wednesday that Makis Psomiadis be remanded in custody for a period of 40 days, during which relevant procedures for his extradition to the Greek authorities must be completed, judicial sources in Skopje told the ANA-MPA.
Psomiadis, against whom an arrest warrant by Interpol is pending, was arrested by Skopje police at noon on Wednesday, while he was in a cafeteria near the centre of Skopje.
He was detected by employees of Greece's Liaison Office in Skopje, who notified the Skopje police of the location where the man wanted by Interpol was to be found.
