Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Dusan and Albanian Minister of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection Genc Ruli signed Friday an agreement on cooperation in veterinary medicine.

Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Dusan and Albanian Minister of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection Genc Ruli signed Friday an agreement on cooperation in veterinary medicine.

Petrovic said that the agreement will bring a significant progress in trade between the two countries because it will reduce the existing red tape.He explained that this agreement will facilitate trade in animals and animal food products.

The minister added that the total value of the trade between Serbia and Albania last year was over EUR 100 million, of which EUR 20 million was trade in agricultural food products. He recalled that Serbia has already signed such agreements with Macedonia, Montenegro, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and explained that the aim of these agreements is to facilitate trade of food, animals and animal products.

Ruli said that the agreement was necessary in order to continue the growth of trade exchange between Serbia and Albania, which has tripled since 2009.He said that 20 percent of Albania's foreign trade with the CEFTA is trade with Serbia, and voiced hope that the overall cooperation with Serbia will be intensified and that the two countries will cooperate in approaching the EU.
