Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said yesterday in Ankara that Serbia and Turkey share a vision of peaceful and stable future of the Balkans, integrated in the EU.

Jeremic, who was on one-day visit to Turkey, said after the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu that there are open issues in the relations between the two countries, but they are willing to cooperate in resolving them.

The Minister said that he spoke with Davutoglu about Serbia’s and Turkey’s bilateral relations and economic, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation.

He expressed satisfaction with fact that Turkish companies and banks are very interested in taking part in the construction of motorway from Belgrade to Montenegro through Sandzak.

That will be a big strategic investment which will transform social and economic picture of Sandzak and make Serbia Turkey’s most important partner in the Western Balkans, Jeremic said and voiced hope that Turkey will soon ratify the Agreement on foreign trade with Serbia.

Davutoglu said that Turkey and Serbia will continue to work strongly on boosting stability and prosperity of the entire region.

In Ankara Jeremic also met with Turkish President Abdullah Gul, and in Istanbul he will meet with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.
