Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic said today that the companies from Germany have expressed interest in investing in Serbia.

Milosavljevic told the Tanjug news agency that a meeting today was held with representatives of approximately 50 companies from Lower Saxony and 20 companies from Serbia in the Hannover Chamber of Commerce.

He said that representatives of German companies showed interest in investing in industries of auto parts in Serbia, to accompany the needs of Fiat and other car manufacturers looking for quality and cheaper production.

Interest was also expressed in the agriculture sector, primarily for the purchase of canned and frozen fruits and vegetables from Serbia, the Minister said.

He recalled that Germany is one of the largest investors in Serbia with more than €1.5 billion in the past eight years.

Milosavljevic said that Europe's largest information technology fair CEBIT was opened today in Hannover, where seven Serbian companies are taking part.
