Diaspora Assembly to hold inaugural session

The Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region will hold its inaugural session from 12.00 to 13.00 on 3 July, at the House of Parliament, Trg Nikole Pasica 13. Top state officials will attend the session.
Serbian Minister of Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic stated Thursday evening that the forthcoming Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region is a manifestation of state's willingness to initiate new immigration policy.
Sreckovic stated for the Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS) that the Saturday Assembly should contribute to integration of potentials of all people originating from Serbia and all human resources for the implementation of the interior and foreign affairs policy and the country's economic development.
The minister pointed out that the Assembly will include representatives of all Serbs who have migrated, regardless of their nationality and religion, as well as of the Serbian people. Sreckovic said that there are about four million Serbs in all five continents, which represents a great potential that unfortunately has not been used for decades.

On 4 July, Assembly delegates will be received by Serbian Patriarch Irinej from 11.00 to 12.00 at the Church administrative building at Saint Sava Temple. Minister for the Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic will be present at the meeting.
Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic will host a reception for delegates and members of the Assembly from 11.00 to 11.45 on 5 July, at the Palace of Serbia (Brown Salon), Bulevar Mihajla Pupina 2.
