Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said the UN General Assembly resolution on Kosovo that was adopted did not recognize Kosovo's independence in any way, nor threaten Serbia's territorial integrity.

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said the UN General Assembly resolution on Kosovo that was adopted did not recognize Kosovo's independence in any way, nor threaten Serbia's territorial integrity.

Jeremic told the resolution, which was agreed with the EU, was extremely important, because it called for a dialogue, thereby concluding the process begun by requesting the ICJ to deliver an opinion.

"The resolution does not confirm Kosovo's independence in any way, nor does it threaten Serbia's territorial integrity. Most of those who spoke during today's debate, including some of the most influential countries, like Russia, China, India, Brazil, Argentina and Indonesia, clearly supported Serbia's view," said Jeremic.

The minister stated that the meeting was delayed by more than two hours because representatives of Kosovo Albanians appeared in the room without being invited by any of the UN members.

Serbian representatives demanded that the Kosovo Albanians leave the room, which they did not to do, while refusing to be a part of any delegation, Jeremic explained.

According to the minister, the dispute was resolved by having five countries, the U.S., Germany, Great Britain, Italy and France, invite the Kosovo Albanian representatives as guests.
