Regional cooperation and the constructive role Serbia and Croatia have in Bosnia-Herzegovina's (BiH) development represent an encouraging new trend in relations within the region, High Representative for BiH Velentin Inzko has told Vreme.
According to Inzko, he recently mentioned 2020 as a potential year of BiH's integration into the EU having in mind that Spain took 9 years to become a member.
The most important thing, however, is to gain the status of a membership candidate, because that is when the true process of integration begins, he asserted.
A new kind of realism prevailed after the latest elections in BiH and the result was an apology from the Bosniak member of the country's three-man presidency for any crimes against the innocent committed by the Bosniak army during the 90s war, Inzko stated.
He thinks the authorities in Sarajevo are now willing to accept reality and embrace the idea that borders should be overcome instead of strengthened.
