Ambassador Furdik becomes honorary citizen

The Municipal Assembly of Backa Palanka, eastern Serbia, has made a unanimous decision to declare Slovak Ambassador to Serbia Igor Furdik an honorary citizen of that municipality.

The Municipal Assembly of Backa Palanka, eastern Serbia, has made a unanimous decision to declare Slovak Ambassador to Serbia Igor Furdik an honorary citizen of that municipality.

Furdik has hugely contributed to the strengthening of diplomatic, economic, cultural and other relations between Serbia and Slovakia, the decision underlines, adding that Slovakia's support to Serbia, its territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration is extremely significant.

In the past five years spent in Belgrade, Furdik has greatly helped the municipality of Backa Palanka, whose 12 percent of the population are members of the Slovak national minority.
