Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic noted that EULEX’s attempt to erect an antenna at the Jarinje crossing in northern Kosovo-Metohija, without previously informing the local self-government about it, will in no way help to stabilise the situation in the province.

Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic noted that EULEX’s attempt to erect an antenna at the Jarinje crossing in northern Kosovo-Metohija, without previously informing the local self-government about it, will in no way help to stabilise the situation in the province.

Bogdanovic told Beta news agency that EULEX should have announced this activity and coordinated it with the local self-government in line with the signed protocol on police cooperation.

Such steps by EULEX will not help us to stabilise the situation in the field, but will simply give rise to more doubts and suspicions from the Serbian population regarding the mission’s actual intentions, the Minister reiterated.

The lack of any effort at coordinated activities on behalf of EULEX and the failure to duly inform all stakeholders, including the local self-government and relevant organs in Belgrade, has led to today’s peaceful protests by Serbs in Jarinje, he concluded.
