Government and IMF: No vital changes in PIO Law

IMF members and Serbian authorities’ representatives agreed that Pension and Disability Insurance Law (PIO) will be resent to parliamentary procedure during next few weeks, without any vital changes compared to the version submitted to the Parliament in June 2010.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) members and Serbian authorities’ representatives agreed to continue the dialogue in order to achieve an agreement swiftly at the level of the mission on the closure of the sixth revision of the stand-by arrangement, IMF office in Belgrade stated on Friday.

IMF mission, led by Albert Jaeger, stayed in Belgrade since October 21 until November 4, in order to discuss the sixth revision of the stand-by arrangement with Serbian authorities’ representatives.

According to Jaeger’s statement after the mission was completed, that conduction of the arrangement with Serbia was mostly in accordance with the plan and that all the criteria referring to the end of September 2010 were fulfilled.

He said that is was also agreed that Pension and Disability Insurance Law will be resent to parliamentary procedure within next few weeks, without any vital changes compared to the version submitted to the Parliament in June 2010.

Jeager pointed out that there are encouraging signs that Serbian economy’s continues recovering based on export. It is expected that economical increase will reach at least 1.5 per cent this year and three per cent next year.
