The Supreme Court of Albania dismissed all accusations of Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur Dick Marty that organ transplantation was performed in the Albanian territory.

The Supreme Court of Albania dismissed all accusations of Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur Dick Marty that organ transplantation was performed in the Albanian territory.

The Albanian prosecution stated that all insinuations that Albanian institutions obstructed the investigation on this issue are groundless. By observing legal norms and international conventions that Albania is a member of, the Supreme Court of Albania expresses readiness to continue cooperation with specialized international institutions, the prosecution's media advisor Plator Nesturi stated.

Nesturi claims that the most recent allegations in Marty's report on the existence of bases in Albania where transplantations were allegedly performed are the data that the Albanian prosecution had no knowledge of.

The prosecution was not informed about it, nor were any requests for investigation submitted by international bodies, he added.

This accusation was first made by Carla del Ponte a number of years ago. The current claims are clearly politically motivated. If, as has been suggested, the original claims were made by journalists, and if that is so I would have thought they would have followed the story up themselves.

This is an attack on the rights of the people of Kosova to govern themselves after years of mistreatment by Serbian authorities.
